Price-To-Sales Sector Watch

Do you ever filter your watchlist based on simple valuation metrics like p/e, peg, price-to-sales, etc.? I don't do it as often as I should, but every time I do I realize that I should probably do it more often because I always spot something I would have missed otherwise.

Case in point, following last week's post which highlighted the relative outperformance of the AAII's price-to-sales screen, last night I decided for fun to look up the price-to-sales ratio for every stock within my stock screen machine.

What I found offered an interesting comparison - especially within sectors that have more than a few stocks in them - like oil, chemicals, and machinery. Among all of these, I was naturally drawn to the chemicals and fertilizer stocks primarily because there was such a wide dispersion between price-to-sales ratios in the group. Take a look.....[READ]
