Earnings & Jobs
Good morning. Premarket futures are lower as investors sort through a batch of mixed earnings reports and weekly jobless claims rose more than expected. Overseas markets were also mixed while commodities continue to rise worldwide.
Premarket gainers: AVAN, ALTR, AVCT, FREE, FUQI, SBLK, IBM, PENN, CY, DTLK, CCK, OMTR, CHKP, GKK, APH, KNL, LEG, SPPI, ABPI, ATR, CRNT, NEU, ISIS, IDGR, FVRL, AMTD, HUBG, TASR, MICC, and KSU.
Premarket losers: NOK, EPIC, VIVO, CNW, PLCM, CMOS, CMSB, WTS, VPHM, GILD, MTH, HOG, HGSI, FTE, PFE, SFN, TGP, TBI, ISIL, SMSC, SPWR, RDC, HOLX, and ERIC.
At 10:AM we have reports on Leading Indicators and the Philadelphia Fed Survey, both of which probably won't be major market movers unless they dramatically disappoint optimistic expectations. We also have more Fedspeak from Kohn, Fisher, and Lacker throughout the day.
As we usually see the day before options expiration, be prepared to see increased volatility and lots of unusual trading action. If we do pull back, it is important that the S&P 1350 to 1360 range is not violated (especially on a closing basis) in order to retain yesterday's upside momentum. After the closing bell, a number of closely watched companies will report earnings including AMD, COF, ETFC, ESLR, GOOG, ISRG, MELI, and TPX.
