Goodbye 3Q

Good morning. On this final day of the third quarter, investors are sorting through more Greenspan gibberish and benign reports on consumer spending and core inflation. We also have a buyout in the tech space by 3Com and mixed overseas markets. Reports on construction spending and consumer sentiment will be released at 10:AM.

Premarket gainers: CNTF, CKXE, APPY, OXGN, HRAY, NGA, SSTR, COMS, FTEK, BIDZ, LOCM, ALVR, FSLR, CRXL, KONG, ARMHY, HOLX, JRJC, JSDA, LNUX, IMCL, LOGI, SPWR, FCEL, SNHY, TLAB, LIHR, ASMI, GOLD, and DRYS.

Premarket losers: BBND, ACTS, CBAK, WYNN, SNDA, CWTR, SVNT, VRTX, XING, CHL, COGN, and FLEX.

While many will spend time looking at the highlights from the third quarter (Morningstar's quarter review is a good start), the focus will now turn toward October. Historically, the month tends to be positive with gains more likely in the second half of the month than the first part with overall choppy trading. Of course, September was suppose to be the worst month of the year and we managed one of the best September in several years.

Have a great Friday!
