Heart Of Earnings Season

Good morning. As expected, M&A news (see ABN, MEDI) and better than expected earnings reports are getting us started for the new trading week. According to Bloomberg, profits increased +6.2% during the first quarter for S&P 500 companies. A week ago only +3.1% was projected.

Scanning premarket trading, stocks starting off the week in positive territory are MEDI, AVNR, FTEK, SPWR, MVIS, JOYG, CELL, JADE, JNPR, CTICD, STMP, CPHD, SIGM, PCYC, NYNY, NMGC, DNDN, NDAQ, and ACGY. Stocks moving lower are AGIX, AMCC, EPCT, JSDA, ASML, and AMZN.

While we have no economic reports until tomorrow morning, earnings will remain front and center as we enter the heart of earnings season. Meanwhile, both Dow 13K and S&P 1500 are the two overhead targets everyone will be fixating on following what has been a very bullish April. Let's make it a great week!
