Another Fed Day

Federalreserve_5Good morning. Premarket futures have a slightly negative bias this morning as traders adopt a cautious stance ahead of today's FOMC event.

The decision is due out at 2:15 PM and will be the key market mover even though we may see some increased activity with the release of the March consumer confidence report at 10:00 AM. One report that hasn't drawn too much interest so far is that U.S. chain stores sales fell last week with analysts blaming poor weather and a later Easter holiday for the strong decline. Beyond that, the newswires are relatively quiet with the exception of a few stock-specific news stories.

In premarket trading, buyers are focused on shares of CHNR, SGXP, LVLT, HYTM, MICC, NGRU, IMMC, DXPE, DXCM, FRNS, GNBT, OPTV, HIV, EXAS, PDC, ANDE, & COMS. Like many of you, I've seen a notable pickup in speculative trading in the market and I see few signs of that abating anytime soon. If you have a hand in that game, remember that speculation works both ways and that proper risk management is the key.

Have a terrific Tuesday.
