August Winners

When I'm sitting around doing very little, I tend to play games in order to keep my mind sharp. No, I'm not talking about video games. But rather, research games that test my knowledge about the market.

One such game I love to play is to try to come up with the results of stock screens BEFORE I actually run them. Earlier this morning I decided to run the search of one-month, high-volume gainers. Before taking a look at the results, my top pick was Beacon Power (BCON), and sure enough, it garnered the top of the list. My second pick was Rediff.com (REDF), which also found a spot in the top ten. But, that's the only two I correctly named. The others fell short.

My game plan this afternoon is to take a closer look at stocks I'm not currently tracking which is usually a beneficial research exercise.
