Investors are Deaf, Dumb, & Blind
Leave it to Paul Farrell at MarketWatch to uncover two hard-to-fathom studies from Dalbar that clearly show that most investors remain deaf, dumb, and blind. Some interesting findings from these studies include the following: 75% percent of mutual fund investors could not even name one of the dozens of firms involved in the Wall Street scandals; 86% said that the scandals had not changed their investments in any way; and fund performance statistics from Morningstar and Lipper as well as other financial newspapers are greatly misleading.
