Survivorship Bias

bogleIt seems there is no end to the practice of investor deception within the mutual fund industry. The latest has to do with survivorship bias. Did you know that mutual funds that are either merged into other funds or liquidated are actually erased from the databases that fund companies and the media generally use to measure performance? Therefore, in a blink of an eye, the dismal track records of dead funds vanish, leaving only the records of so-called survivor funds. READ
